Victor Mariniuk was born in 1939 in the Kirovograd, Ukraine region. From 1946 to 1947 he lived in Estonia. Graduated from the Odessa College of Art in 1967. In the same year together with Alexander Anufriev, Vladimir Strelnikov, Ludmilla Yastreb, Valentin Khrushch and Stanislav Sytchov they form the Odessa Group of non-conformist artists. In 1971 he exhibites in the premises of the Union of Artists. In 1972 begins working at the Monumental Decorative Art branch of the Odessa Union of Artists. From 1975 Mariniuk participates in numerous "unofficial" apartment exhibitions in Odessa and Moscow. In the 1970's he had a permanent exposition at Vladimir Asriev's unofficial apartment gallery in the centre of Odessa. Connections with the non-conformist artists of Moscow are established.

In the 1980's Mariniuk had created numerous important monumental works for the city of Odessa including the wonderful mural at the Central Book House in Odessa. He had made murals and stained-glass windows in the Assembly Hall of the Students Palace in Odessa. In 1989 visited Munich where he had exhibition at the Bavarian State Ministry of Labour Hall.

He continued exhibiting in the 90's. He was a participant and one of the organisers of the Third World Biennale "Impressa" in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine, as well as being on the jury panel.

Mariniuk lives and works in Odessa. His paintings are in the Odessa State Fine Art Gallery as well as in numerous private collections worldwide.
